Codan and Alm. Brand will merge into one legal entity

We are planning to complete an internal change of the company structure of Alm. Brand Group with effect from 31 March 2024, merging the legal entities of Codan Forsikring A/S and Alm. Brand Forsikring A/S. We are doing this to simplify our company structure and to be able to better serve our customers across Codan and Alm. Brand. Alm. Brand Forsikring A/S, company reg. (CVR) no. 10526949, will be the new continuing legal entity. 

Your insurance policies will remain unchanged

In practice, we will transfer all customer insurance policies held with Codan Forsikring A/S to Alm. Brand Forsikring A/S on the same terms and conditions and at the same price. As a customer, you will not feel any difference. The Codan brand will not change, and you will be served by the same employees. The only change is that the legal entity behind your insurance policies will be Alm. Brand Forsikring A/S.

We are ready to help you

You can still use 'Mit Codan' and call us just as you usually do. For example if you need advice on how to prevent claims, or if it has been a long time since you had your last insurance review.

Alm. Brand Group’s new company structure

  • Codan Forsikring A/S and Alm. Brand Forsikring A/S will merge into one legal entity effective from 31 March 2024.
  • The Codan brand and all Codan insurances will remain unchanged.
  • After the merger, all Codan customers will legally be insured with Alm. Brand Forsikring A/S, company reg. (CVR) no. 10526949.
  • Forsikringsselskabet Privatsikring A/S, which is currently a subsidiary of Codan Forsikring A/S, will become a subsidiary of Alm. Brand Forsikring A/S with the current company reg. (CVR) no. 25071409.

The transfer is subject to approval by the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority

  • The transfer of all insurance policies held with Codan Forsikring A/S to Alm. Brand Forsikring A/S when we merge the two legal entities is subject to approval by the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority.
  • We are currently waiting for the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority to approve the transfer. We expect the merger to be completed on 31 March 2024.
  • On this date, all insurance policies held with Codan Forsikring A/S will be transferred to Alm. Brand Forsikring A/S.

You have the right to object

If you want to object to the transfer, you may do so by sending a written objection by letter to the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority at the address Strandgade 29, DK-1401 Copenhagen K or by e-mail to finanstilsynet@ftnet.dk on or before 13 January 2024.

After expiry of the deadline for objections, the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority will consider whether or not it can approve the transfer of all insurance policies held with Codan Forsikring A/S to Alm. Brand Forsikring A/S.
