For more than two decades, we have been at the forefront of the offshore wind insurance industry. We are proud to be regarded as a leading insurance partner among the major stakeholders in the dynamic offshore wind industry.

Committed to driving sustainability initiatives, we invest substantial resources in understanding and insuring solar cell parks throughout Europe. Additionally, we are involved as insurer for climate-friendly BIO4 projects in Denmark.

Involvments across the globe

Our involvement in numerous offshore projects across Europe has allowed us to secure a remarkable market share, insuring over 60% of offshore wind farms worldwide.

Today, our presence extends beyond European coastlines, with engagements in regions such as Taiwan, Korea, and Japan. Also in onshore wind, we maintain a leading position.

Our legacy

With our founding dating back to 1916, Codan has a long history with insurance of renewable energy. Over the years, we have established ourselves as a leading player.

Codan Forsikring A/S was established in 1916 by four companies, and in 1940, the company merged with Phoenix Assurance Company Ltd. Later, the group was joined by Fjerde Søforsikring and Hafnia Forsikring, both with substantial marine insurance departments.

In 1964, Codan Forsikring A/S was publicly listed.
In 1991, we insured the first offshore wind farm ever built. Since then, we have maintained a leading position in offshore wind industry.
In 2022, Hornsea 2 (165 WTG 1.3 GW), the world's largest offshore wind farm, enters full operation.
Today, Codan Denmark including Renewable Energy is a part of Alm. Brand Group, the second largest insurance company in Denmark. We continue to work under our well-known Codan name and brand.
